We are happy to announce the following enhancements to NQE as part of release 26.10.0.

What's New​

  • FWD-51213 - CIS (Center for Internet Security) benchmarks are now part of the NQE data model. cisDatabase is now a field of Network with type CisDatabase, which contains the benchmarks implemented by Forward Networks. cisFindings is now a field of Device with type Bag<CisBenchmarkFinding>. Each CisBenchmarkFinding reports, for each rule of its benchmark, whether the device violates that rule.
  • FWD-46266 - The function trim now exists. It removes all leading and trailing whitespace from a String.
  • PLAN-3642 - localAddress is now a field of BgpNeighbor. When present, it is the local IP address that the device uses to connect with the BGP peer.
  • PLAN-2193 - latitude and longitude are now fields of Location.

What's Improved​

  • FWD-59961 - The documentation of the functions patternMatch, patternMatches, blockMatches, blockDiff, and hasBlockMatch now describes their results, matching rules, and behavior on null arguments in detail, and includes worked examples.

Command Changes​

  • FWDN-12723 - The Command with CommandType value SDWAN_OMP_ROUTES was modified for the OS value IOS_XE in some cases by adding show sdwan omp routes {} in the Outputs of a Device.
  • FWDN-12739 - The Command with CommandType value SDWAN_OMP_IPV6_ROUTES was modified for the OS value VIPTELA in some cases by adding show tenant {} omp routes family ipv6 in the Outputs of a Device.
  • FWDN-12739 - The Command with CommandType value SDWAN_OMP_ROUTES was modified for the OS value VIPTELA in some cases by adding show tenant {} omp routes and show tenant {} omp routes {} in the Outputs of a Device.
  • FWDN-12784 - The Command with CommandType value F5_LTM_CONFIG was modified for the OS value F5 in some cases by adding show running-config ltm traffic-matching-criteria all-properties;, show running-config net address-list all-properties recursive;, and show running-config net port-list all-properties recursive; in the Outputs of a Device.
  • FWD-60178 - MACSEC is now a possible value of CommandType. Also, a Command with CommandType value MACSEC now exists for the OS value VIASAT_ENCRYPTOR in the Outputs of a Device.

Deprecations​

Some elements of NQE are deprecated. They will be removed or forbidden in a major release.

Functions​

  • The built-in functions blockDiff_alpha1, blockMatches_alpha1, and hasBlockMatch_alpha1 are deprecated. They will be removed in a major release. For each function, use the function without the _alpha1 suffix instead.
  • Passing a Bag<> to a function that expects a List<> is deprecated. A warning is currently given. A future major release will elevate this to an error.

Operations​

  • The operations ==, !=, <, <=, >=, and > between a Bag<> and List<> are deprecated. A warning is currently given. A future major release will elevate this to an error.

Types​

  • Number - The Number type is deprecated. In its place, use Integer. Any use of Number will be replaced by Integer during pretty printing. A warning is given for each use of Number.
